How to Get from Boston to Killington for a Weekend Getaway

How do you go skiing in Killington if you are stuck without a car in Boston or just don’t feel like driving? We suggest that you take a ski bus from Boston to Killington for a weekend getaway.

The ski bus trip from Boston to Killington has two parts. Heading out from Boston South Station, take the Greyhound Bus to Albany, NY. You will arrive at the Trailways Greyhound Station located at 34 Hamilton St. and will have to get to the Albany-Rensselaer, NY Amtrak station located at 525 East St, Rensselaer, NY 12144.  About a 25-minute walk to connect from the greyhound ski bus to the Amtrak train which will finish off your Boston to Killington journey by taking you to the town next to Killington Mountain – Rutland. Killington has a very convenient shuttle running from Rutland to the base of the Killington Mountain.

For those interested in making the trip from Boston to Killington but don’t want to go through Albany, there is an alternative route. You would take BoltBus from Boston South Station to NYC, where there are so many interesting things going on that it shouldn’t be hard to find something to do if you have a long layover. From there, you would then take the Amtrak at Penn Station up to Rutland, where the shuttle will take you to Killington. However, this route of travel is upwards of 11 hours, so we suggest going through Albany for your Boston to Killington trip in order to get you on the slopes as quickly as possible. Also, there are other mountains to consider around Killington if you want to try something new.

For those making the stop in Albany, here are some fun things to try out while you make a pit stop on your way from Boston to Killington.

Albany Indoor Rock Gym – Looking for a fun, physical activity to do that’s sheltered from the cooler fall weather? Albany’s indoor rock climbing gym might be the place to go as you await your bus to Killington.

Dave & Busters – Their slogan is “the most fun you can have under one roof”, and they might be right. You can stop here to watch some sports, grab some food, and play some fun arcade games to pass the time.

If you’re looking to get away from the slopes for a night during your Boston to Killington Ski trip, here are some attractions to keep in mind in the neighboring town of Rutland.

Paramount Theatre – The restored venue offers a variety of events from big headliners to local talent. Make sure you check their website to see who or what is playing during the week of your trip.

A Signature Day Spa – Looking to relax a little bit after a rough day on the slopes? A Signature Day Spa might be what you need to loosen up.

Flagship Premium Cinema – The local cinema might be what you need after a long day on the mountain. Check out showtimes on their website to see what movies are playing.
